Job Purpose

To design, implement, and commission instrumentation and control systems for the greenfield project, ensuring seamless integration, safety compliance, and operational reliability in a batch chemical plant environment.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Specify, select, and design instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analytical) and control systems (PLC/DCS/SCADA) for the new plant.  \
  2. Ensure integration of instrumentation with electrical and automation systems for unified plant control.
  3. Supervise installation, calibration, loop checking, and commissioning of all instruments.
  4. Develop and maintain instrumentation documentation (datasheets, loop diagrams, calibration records).
  5. Ensure compliance with safety standards (SIL, ATEX, PESO) and functional safety requirements.
  6. Troubleshoot instrumentation and control issues in batch processes and provide effective solutions.
  7. Coordinate with vendors, EPC contractors, and internal teams for timely project execution.
  8. Support FAT/SAT, pre-commissioning, and startup activities.
  9. Implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for instrumentation systems.

Major Challenges

  • Integrating new-age instrumentation and control systems with legacy equipment during project phases.
  • Ensuring functional safety (SIL) and hazardous area compliance in a complex chemical batch process.

Decisions

Independent Decisions:

  • Instrument selection, specification, and vendor technical evaluation.
  • Day-to-day commissioning and troubleshooting decisions.

Decisions Requiring Approval:
